"Project Porcupine"

We have an ambitious plan (named PROJECT PORCUPINE) to add smart cameras to the whole Constantia Hills area, particularly in hotspots / the greenbelts and the border that we share with the M3 highway. Currently we have installed 10 smart cameras and a lot more are in the pipeline. Some are fixed and some are mobile units. These cameras will automatically detect people, aided by AI technology,  who are moving at odd hours of the day/night and while any system is fallible, the system picks up  would be intruders before they engage in any criminal activity. This has proved to work very well in the beginning phase of the roll out and has aided us to prevent many crimes in our area.
